Selling a home in the winter might seem like a bad idea, but it’s definitely not. Here are a few reasons why.

Today I’m in San Diego at a real estate conference, and I was inspired to bring a message to those of you who are thinking about selling in 2019.

Everybody knows that spring and summer are the busiest time of year for selling real estate. The days are longer, more homes are on the market, and there are more buyers. However, just because this is when the market is at its busiest doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the most profitable time to sell. Here are three great reasons to consider selling this winter:

3. Buyers have increased purchasing power. With end-of-year bonuses and raises, many buyers can afford more than they could have earlier in the preceding year. They’re ready to buy and looking for hot, new inventory during this time of year.

2. Buyers are more serious. The buyers who are out in the market during this time of year are dead serious about buying. Come January, they will be less distracted, and if a great home hits the market at a great price, those buyers will jump on it.

"With a limited supply, the demand for your home will increase during this time of year."

1. Supply and demand. This is economics 101. If you list your home, and yours is one of the few that’s hitting the market during this time, you may even have a chance of starting a bidding war because of the extremely limited supply.

There you have it—three great reasons to list your home during the wintertime. Each situation is different, so if you have any questions about your own situation or about anything else related to buying or selling a home in this market, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
